Ampem Darkoa thrash USFAS Bamako 5-1 in CAF Champions League opener

Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies began their 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League campaign in impressive fashion with a commanding 5-1 victory over Mali’s USFAS Bamako.

The Ghanaian side recovered from an early setback to record a convincing win in their Group B opener, with Angelina Yeboah scoring twice.

USFAS Bamako took the lead in the 10th minute through Oumou Koné, but Ampem Darkoa responded positively and restored parity in the 27th minute when Yeboah finished off a pass from Nancy Amoh.

Patricia Agyei completed the turnaround three minutes later, putting the Ghanaian champions ahead in the 30th minute.

Ampem continued to dominate after the break, although Amoh had a goal ruled out for offside in the 55th minute.

Yeboah eventually extended the advantage in the 78th minute with her second goal of the match before Beline Nyarko added a fourth four minutes later.

Amoh capped the impressive performance by scoring in the fourth minute of stoppage time to seal the 5-1 victory.

The result gives Ampem Darkoa an encouraging start to their Group B campaign as they seek to progress to the semi-finals and challenge for the continental title.
