Ghana won eight of their 10 matches, ending the tournament with a convincing 4-0 victory over Colombia. Their campaign also included a 7-1 defeat by Brazil in the Tier A Ranking Play-Offs.

Issa said the team would use the experience as a foundation for future progress rather than become satisfied with their performance.

“We are not going to rest at all, we shall continue to learn more from our coaches and continue to grow and develop,” he said.

“I believe that this group and a few more quality additions will do well in future competitions.”

The captain acknowledged that Ghana had arrived in Azerbaijan targeting the trophy, but felt the squad could still take considerable pride in what it achieved.

“We came here with loads of confidence to win the competition and worked towards that goal, but it wasn’t enough. However, I think the team did extremely well.”

Ghana began the tournament in impressive fashion, winning all five of their Group W fixtures to finish at the top of the standings with a maximum 15 points.

Their attacking strength was evident throughout the group stage, with the team scoring 27 goals and conceding only three. That record also reflected their defensive organisation as they progressed with a perfect record.

They opened with a 4-1 win against Uzbekistan before producing a 7-1 victory over Myanmar. Further dominant displays brought 7-0 successes against Guam and the Bahamas.

The group campaign concluded with a closer contest against Kazakhstan, although Ghana held on for a 2-1 win to preserve their 100% record.

Their progress towards a higher final position was halted in the knockout phase, when they were eliminated by Paraguay after a dramatic encounter.

Despite that setback and the heavy loss to Brazil in the Tier A Ranking Play-Offs, Ghana recovered to finish their campaign strongly against Colombia.

Issa believes the experience gained by the squad, combined with the development of the existing players and the arrival of further quality additions, can help Ghana compete successfully in future competitions.

The team’s final record of eight wins from 10 matches secured seventh place overall at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival 2026.
