Shame In The Chamber – Abu Jinapor Marched Out By Marshal After Calling Ablakwa Passport Seller
Damongo MP, Samuel Abu Jinapor, was walked out of the Chamber by the Parliament Marshal after he failed to withdraw serious allegations against Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Abu Jinapor, who is the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, had accused the Foreign Affairs Minister of selling diplomatic passports.
He claimed that diplomatic and service passports were being sold and given to people who do not qualify since January 2025. The NPP has been pushing that six people were given service passports as NADMO and Fisheries officials when they are not.
The Majority side raised objection. They said the allegation was serious and without proof, and it damages the reputation of the minister and the country.
The Speaker ordered Abu Jinapor to withdraw the statement and apologize, or provide evidence.
He insisted that his side has over 200 pages of documents from a Right to Information request and there are gaps, duplicate entries, and inconsistencies in the passport issuance.
Because he refused to withdraw, the Speaker invoked the rules and ordered the Marshal to walk him out of the Chamber.
The Chamber went silent as the Marshal escorted the former Lands Minister out.
The Majority says the passport claims are just a diversion to cover up the real questions about the GH¢49.7 million South Africa evacuation spending.
Abu Jinapor and the Minority say they will not be intimidated. They say they are doing parliamentary oversight and Ghanaians deserve to know who is getting Ghana’s diplomatic passports.
For now, the Damongo MP is out of the Chamber, but the fight over diplomatic passports and the South Africa evacuation money is far from over.
