Abroad for a Better Life, They Came Home in Coffins – 5 Ghanaian Children Killed in Cold Blood

For many Ghanaians, travelling abroad is about hope. It is a chance to escape hardship, find a better life, and help family back home.

Foreign countries like the UK and the USA look like safe havens where dreams come true. But for some families, that dream has turned into a nightmare.

Some Ghanaian parents who left Ghana to build a better future have watched their own children die in gruesome ways on foreign soil. Children they suffered to raise, killed far from home.

Here are five painful cases that have left many Ghanaians heartbroken:

Javits Frimpong, 15 – Shot dead in New York

In October 2026, 15-year-old Javits Frimpong was shot dead in New York. He was just a teenager with his whole life ahead of him, but his life was cut short by gun violence in a country his family believed was safer.

Nathan Bawuah, 17 – Stabbed to death in East London

In February 2024, 17-year-old Nathan Bawuah was stabbed to death in East London. A young boy who should have been in school, killed on the streets of London.

Seven-month-old Emanuela Sakyi – Killed in a car crash

In December 2022, baby Emanuela Sakyi, just seven months old, died in a car crash. She did not even get the chance to grow up. Her death broke many hearts.

Kwasi Anim-Boadu, 20 – Stabbed to death in London

In April 2018, 20-year-old Kwasi Anim-Boadu was stabbed to death in London. At 20, he was just starting his adult life before it was brutally taken away.

James Owusu, 22 – Shot dead outside his own home in London

In November 2016, 22-year-old James Owusu was shot dead outside his family home in north-west London. Killed right at his own doorstep, in a place that should have been safe.

These stories are more than just news. They are real children, real families, and real pain. They remind us that life abroad is not always what it seems on social media.

For every Ghanaian parent living abroad, the fear is real. You leave home to protect your children, only to lose them in a strange land.

May the souls of these innocent children rest in peace.
