Beach Soccer AFCON 2026: Ghana set to learn group opponents as CAF confirms draw format

Ghana will discover their group-stage opponents for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations when the Confederation of African Football (CAF) holds the official tournament draw.

The draw is scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November 2026, at 16:00 (Cairo local time) at CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

Ghanas qualification was secured after the Black Sharks defeated arch-rivals Nigeria 10-7 on aggregate. The two teams drew 3-3 in Nigeria before Ghana completed the tie with a 7-4 victory in Keta.

The qualification gives Ghana the opportunity to return to the continental competition and face the leading beach soccer nations in Africa. The Black Sharks last appeared at the tournament in 2024 and have been working towards a return to the continental stage.

Eight teams have qualified for the 2026 final tournament: Angola, Ghana, Malawi, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal and Uganda.

CAFs draw procedures confirm that Senegal, the host nation and defending champions, will be placed automatically in position A1 in Group A.

Mauritania, who finished as runners-up in the 2024 edition, will be assigned to position B1 in Group B.

The other six qualified teams have been divided into three pots according to CAFs ranking from the last three editions of the competition.

The draw will begin with Pot 3 before moving on to Pot 2 and Pot 1. The first team selected from Pot 3 will be placed in Group A at position A4, while the second team drawn will take position B4 in Group B.

The same allocation process will then be followed for Pot 2 and Pot 1, determining the remaining group positions for the tournament.
