T-Shirt Worn By Kojo Bamba During Today’s Protest Sparks Reactions Online

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) took to the streets today, November 3rd, 2026, to press the Foreign Affairs Ministry over the government’s handling of the recent evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa. The demonstration called for clarity, transparency and accountability from the government.

The protest drew a number of prominent party figures, among them the First National Vice Chairman, Kojo Bamba, who joined the march alongside other members and supporters. However, while the demonstration was meant to focus attention on the evacuation issue, the T-shirt worn by Mr. Bamba has become the spotlight, with Ghanaians taking to social media to react.

The T-shirt features himself and Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, with the inscription “Shatta Bamba Movement.” The design has since become a major talking point online, with many users weighing in on the choice of outfit for such an event.

Videos and photos from the demonstration, shared by media outlets including UTV Ghana, have circulated widely, giving the T-shirt even greater visibility. Some social media users have been drawn to the unusual pairing of a political demonstration and a shirt associated with an entertainment figure, while others have simply taken the opportunity to engage in light-hearted banter.

The conversation highlights how quickly moments from public events can shift online attention, sometimes overshadowing the very issues at the heart of the gathering.

Beyond the online chatter, the substance of the demonstration remains the party’s call on the government to provide a clear account of how the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa was handled. The NPP insists that Ghanaians deserve transparency and accountability on the matter, and the demonstrators’ message was directed squarely at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The NPP’s demonstration is part of its ongoing push for accountability over the evacuation exercise. Whether the attention on the T-shirt will affect the message of the protest remains to be seen.
