Bongo Takes Fresh Swipe At NPP’s Benjamin Gyewu Over Ablakwa’s Lawsuit,Calls For Suspension

According to a Post on Bongo Ideas official facebook account on Tuesday, November 3,2026,Ghanaian social commentator Bongo Ideas has criticised New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah following reports that Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has taken legal action against him and Media General over allegations surrounding the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa.

In a Facebook post, Bongo Ideas revisited comments allegedly made by Gyewu-Appiah during a discussion on Onua FM, in which he accused Ablakwa of diverting funds allocated for the evacuation exercise and spending the money on musician Fantana.

During the broadcast, Gyewu-Appiah reportedly suggested that the minister had a romantic relationship with the musician and alleged that money intended for the evacuation was given to her.

“What pains me is that he has given all the money he took to Fantana. Do you know his girl is Fantana?” Gyewu-Appiah was quoted as saying.

He reportedly escalated his accusations by describing Ablakwa as a thief and predicting that both the minister and his wife would eventually be jailed over the alleged financial misconduct.

Gyewu-Appiah also claimed that Ablakwa’s wife was involved in purchasing tickets for the evacuation exercise and further alleged that the minister had bought 17 houses for Fantana using the supposed diverted funds.

Reacting to the development, Bongo Ideas questioned the NPP communicator’s conduct and suggested that his latest controversy should attract disciplinary action from the opposition party.

The social commentator also brought up Gyewu-Appiah’s previous controversial statement ahead of the 2024 general elections, when he reportedly threatened to set himself on fire if John Dramani Mahama emerged victorious.
