“My Son Will Never Meet My Father” – Oliver Barker Reacts to the Death of His Father

Ghanaian activist and lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor has shared an emotional tribute following the death of his father, reflecting on their relationship and the pain of knowing that his young son will never have the opportunity to meet his grandfather.

In a Facebook post shared on his official page on November 2, 2026, Barker-Vormawor began his announcement with the words, “My father is dead.” He explained that he had spent considerable time thinking about how to communicate the painful news before deciding to state the truth directly.

The lawyer described his late father as his “number 1 fan and cheerleader,” recalling how the older man constantly celebrated his achievements and spoke proudly about his future.

According to Barker-Vormawor, his father would often tell friends that his son would one day become president. He also recalled how his father would refer people facing difficulties to him, saying that “his son the lawyer can help.”

Although such public displays of affection sometimes embarrassed him when he was younger, Barker-Vormawor said he now understands that his father expressed love through constant pride and support.

Reflecting on their relationship, he wrote, “He knew only how to love one way. Proudly,” while admitting that he once resented his father’s inability to keep personal matters private.

He also recalled their final interaction, describing it as a wordless exchange in which he raised his hand and his father responded with a nod. Hours later, he received a call informing him that a Good Samaritan had found his father on the street and was taking him to hospital.

The tribute ended with a deeply emotional reflection: “My son will never meet my father. And that brings tears to my eyes.”

His message has attracted condolences and expressions of sympathy from Ghanaians, many of whom have shared in the family’s loss.
