RIP: Last Painful Words Former TV Presenter’s Mother Said Before She Was Brutally Murdered
Details have emerged on the last painful words former KTN presenter Regina Re’s mother said before she was brutally killed inside her home in Loresho, Nairobi.
According to court documents, 86-year-old Dorita Lasinder Macharia reportedly clashed with her granddaughter, Thandie Malaika Wanjiku Gitao, after allegedly finding her with her boyfriend, Alton Jimmy Macharia, in an inappropriate situation inside her bedroom.
The incident is said to have upset the elderly woman, who confronted her granddaughter and instructed her to move out of the house.
She also asked Thandie to hand over the room keys and ordered several friends who were reportedly at the residence to leave.
As the disagreement continued, Dorita reportedly contacted her son, Jimmy, and requested his help in getting her granddaughter out of the family home.
Although Thandie initially walked away, detectives informed the court that she later returned and spent about an hour inside the house with her grandmother.
The events that followed are now a key part of the ongoing murder investigation.
According to the investigating officer, Dorita was later found lying in a pool of blood with a serious cut on the left side of her neck.
Her granddaughter allegedly dashed outside, shouting that her grandmother was bleeding, prompting friends who were waiting outside to respond.
The incident occurred at Loresho Ridge Estate on the night of October 30, 2026.After the discovery, Regina Re and three other relatives were taken into custody as detectives began investigating the killing. The suspects were named Regina Wambui Macharia Gitao, Thandie Malaika Wanjiku Gitao, Immanuel Walgwe Munyeki, and Alton Jimmy Macharia.
Detectives had initially asked the court for 15 days to hold the four suspects at Gigiri Police Station while gathering evidence. However, the court approved their detention for 10 days.
Police told the court that they needed additional time to review security camera recordings from the estate, carry out forensic tests, examine fingerprints, obtain phone records, and interview witnesses.Investigators also intend to have a government pathologist examine the body before submitting the investigation file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for further guidance.
The four relatives remain suspects in the case and have not been convicted of murder.
