“Ndiye Huyu” Photos Emerge of Veteran KTN Presenter Arrested in Nairobi Over Her Mum’s Murder
Pictures have surfaced of former KTN host and actress Regina Wambui Gitau, widely known as Regina Re, after her arrest in connection with the killing of her 86-year-old mother at their family residence in Loresho, Nairobi.
Regina, who earlier presented the popular game show Who’s Smarter Now? on Kenya Television Network (KTN), is one of four relatives under investigation over the death of Dorita Lasinder Macharia.A Nairobi court has permitted detectives to hold the four suspects for 10 days while investigations proceed.
The suspects were presented before the High Court at Kibera Law Courts on Monday, November 2, after police sought additional time to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
The remaining suspects are Thandie Malaika Wanjiku Gitao, Immanuel Walgwe Munyeki, and Alton Jimmy Macharia.
Police say the elderly woman was discovered dead inside her home at Loresho Ridge Estate on the night of October 30, with a deep wound on the left side of her neck.
Police Constable David Njoroge, the investigating officer, informed the court that the killing allegedly came after a quarrel between the deceased and her granddaughter, Thandie.Detectives alleged that the grandmother grew furious after supposedly finding Thandie with her boyfriend, Alton, in a compromising position in her bedroom.
She reportedly told her granddaughter to vacate the house and hand over the room keys and also asked other friends who were present to go.
The elderly woman later phoned her son, Jimmy, requesting his help in removing Thandie from the home.
Although Thandie first left, detectives said she came back and stayed roughly an hour inside the house with her grandmother.
The elderly woman was then found lying in a pool of blood, while her granddaughter allegedly ran outside screaming that she was bleeding.
The four suspects were picked up at about 2am on October 31 and taken to Gigiri Police Station.
Detectives intend to review CCTV footage, fingerprints, and phone records; question witnesses; and carry out a postmortem examination.
The court gave police 10 days to finalize further investigations. The suspects have not been convicted of any offense.
