Winnie Starts Online Poll Asking Kenyans Which Party She Should Join Ahead of 2027, Give Options

Winnie Odinga has sparked fresh political discussion after asking Kenyans to help her decide her next political move ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP shared an online poll on Instagram on Monday, November 2, inviting Kenyans to give their views on the political direction she should take as she prepares to contest the Nairobi Senate seat.

In the poll, Winnie presented four options, including ODM/broad-based, Linda Mwananchi, Fight for ODM and Relax/other.

Interestingly, the Linda Mwananchi option had taken a clear lead, attracting 72 per cent of the votes at the time of reporting.

ODM/broad-based and Fight for ODM were tied at 11 per cent each, while Relax/other received six per cent.

Her poll comes at a time when political activities are gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election, with different leaders positioning themselves for various elective seats.

Winnie had earlier announced her intention to contest for the Nairobi senatorial seat, but she has yet to reveal the political party or ticket she will use in the race.

She made the announcement on October 15, 2026, during a memorial service marking one year since the death of her father, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

During the event, she explained that she had identified an opportunity in Nairobi as the current senator, Edwin Sifuna, pursued higher political ambitions.

Her latest move has attracted attention because she has previously been associated with ODM, a party closely linked to her late father.

The inclusion of Linda Mwananchi in her poll is also notable, given the movement’s growing political activities under the leadership of Sifuna.

However, the online poll does not amount to an official announcement of her political affiliation.

Kenyans will now be watching closely to see which political direction Winnie chooses as she prepares for the Nairobi Senate contest in 2027.
