President Tinubu concludes his Saudi Arabia visit after performing Umrah in Makkah
According to a report by Arise News on Monday, November 2, 2026, President Bola Tinubu has concluded his five-day visit to Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah, the lesser pilgrimage to Makkah, where he offered prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and prosperity.
The President announced the completion of his visit in a post on his verified X account, @OfficialPBAT, on Monday, expressing gratitude to the Saudi Arabian authorities for the hospitality and special privileges extended to him and members of his delegation.
Tinubu disclosed that he and some members of his delegation were granted the rare opportunity to enter the Holy Kaaba, one of the most sacred sites in Islam, where they offered prayers for Nigeria and its citizens.
In his message, the President said the spiritual exercise provided an opportunity to seek divine intervention for the country’s continued progress and the well-being of Nigerians.
He wrote: “I have concluded my visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where, together with members of my delegation, I had the rare honour of entering the Holy Kaaba to pray, and of performing Umrah.
“I am deeply grateful to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud @KingSalman, and to Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for extending this privilege to us, and for their gracious hospitality and brotherly care.
“It reflects the enduring bonds of faith and friendship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
“In those sacred moments, I prayed for peace, unity and prosperity for our dear nation and for all Nigerians.”
Tinubu arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday night through the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, where he was received by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Yakubu Gambo, and the country’s Head of Royal Protocol, Ahmad bin Thafir.
His visit centred on religious activities, particularly the performance of Umrah, which involves a series of spiritual rites undertaken by Muslim pilgrims in Makkah.
Unlike the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which takes place during a specific period in the Islamic calendar, Umrah can be performed at different times of the year.
The President’s visit also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the longstanding diplomatic, religious and cultural relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia remains an important partner to Nigeria, particularly in matters relating to religious affairs, trade, investment and bilateral cooperation.
During the visit, Tinubu expressed appreciation to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support and the warm reception accorded to him and his delegation.
The President’s prayers for Nigeria come amid ongoing economic, security and social challenges facing the country, with citizens continuing to look towards the government for improved living conditions, national stability and economic recovery.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria following the completion of his engagements in the kingdom.
