“I Regret Leaving My Marriage”- Woman Cries Out After Leaving Her 8-Year Marriage
A Nigerian woman has sparked conversations online after opening up about her regret over ending her eight-year marriage, revealing that she has struggled to find a committed partner three years after leaving her husband.
The woman, who shares three children with her estranged husband, explained that she walked away from the marriage because she suspected him of cheating on her. However, she disclosed that her parents had warned her against leaving but she ignored their advice.
In a viral video, she appealed to Nigerians for help, lamenting that her relationship experiences since leaving the marriage had left her regretting her decision.
“I regret leaving my marriage of eight years. Now, I don nearly turn to side chick. I beg make una help me,” she said.
She further revealed that she had spent three years away from her matrimonial home and was now struggling to find a serious relationship.
“I get three children with my husband. But because I feel say my husband dey cheat on me na him make me leave my husband. And they warned me, my parents warned me, I no hear,” she added.
Reacting to her confession, another woman questioned the kind of help she expected from the public, while sharing her thoughts on the challenges some women face after leaving their marriages.
“So, wetin you really won’t make we do for you now?” she asked.
She argued that some women assume that leaving their husbands would automatically lead them to better partners, only to discover that not every man they meet outside marriage is interested in a serious relationship.
“Some women don’t understand that leaving your husband does not mean other men are waiting for you. Some of you think once you leave your marriage, you will find somebody better,” she said.
According to her, some men in the dating scene are only interested in casual relationships and have no intention of committing to or marrying the women they meet.
“And then you discover that the men you are meeting just want to have a taste of you. And most times, these are married men that cannot even leave their wives for you,” she added.
However, she clarified that she was not encouraging women to remain in marriages where their partners are unfaithful. She stressed that there is a difference between having concrete evidence of infidelity and acting on suspicion.
“Nobody is telling you to tolerate a cheating partner. It’s a different thing when you catch your partner red-handed than when you are just assuming,” she stated.
She consequently advised women to think carefully before making the decision to leave their marriages, noting that finding another committed partner is not always guaranteed.
“Before you walk away from your marriage, be sure of what you are doing. This street will not pity you because you are once somebody’s wife,” she said.
