FC Savannah claimed a 2-0 win over Dormaa Candy Ladies in an entertaining Gold Fields Women’s Premier League encounter at the Gusheigu Astro Turf on Sunday.

Both teams started brightly, with Savannah showing attacking ambition through their high pressing and early attempts on goal. Dormaa Candy Ladies, meanwhile, looked to cause problems through quick counterattacks.

The hosts took the lead in the 16th minute after capitalising on a defensive error. A well-coordinated attacking move created an opening in the final third, allowing Sofaya Issah to find the net and put FC Savannah ahead.

Dormaa Candy Ladies responded by pushing forward in search of an equaliser, but Savannah remained organised at the back and protected their lead until the interval.

The hosts eventually secured the victory in stoppage time when Darajat Rafio Yussif produced a moment of individual brilliance to score in the 93rd minute and seal the 2-0 result.

Elsewhere in Kumasi, Dreamz Ladies and Tamale Super Ladies settled for a goalless draw at the Dreamz Ladies home grounds.

It was a closely fought encounter, with both sides finding it difficult to create clear scoring opportunities. Dreamz Ladies, who had also drawn 0-0 with Dormaa Candy Ladies on Matchday One, maintained their defensive discipline but struggled to break down a well-organised Tamale Super Ladies defence.

Both teams made late attempts to find a winner, but neither could produce the finishing touch in the final third.

The result means Dreamz Ladies have now recorded consecutive goalless draws, while Tamale Super Ladies return home with a point from the away fixture. Both clubs remain unbeaten after two matches, with two points each.
