“I Am Begging EOCO to Consider His Age and Illness” – Peter Tawiah Pleads for Maxwell Kofi Jumah
Peter Tawiah has appealed to EOCO to take Maxwell Kofi Jumah’s age and reported health problems into consideration as investigations continue into an alleged GHS 7 million financial loss involving suspected fraudulent transactions.
The appeal comes after the High Court upheld an order freezing four bank accounts belonging to the former GIHOC managing director.
Tawiah described the situation as emotionally difficult, explaining that he sympathised with Jumah because of his advanced age and reported health challenges.
He clarified that his appeal was not intended to interfere with the investigation or excuse any alleged wrongdoing. Rather, he wants the authorities to handle the matter with consideration for Jumah’s condition while ensuring that the allegations are properly examined.
The investigation has attracted public interest because of the substantial sum involved and Jumah’s previous leadership role at GIHOC.
Tawiah emphasised that justice and compassion should go hand in hand. He urged EOCO and the public to treat the matter fairly, stressing that individuals under investigation deserve dignity regardless of the allegations against them.
