Unfortunately I Would Have Believed This Story If The Arrest Had Not Been Done At The Airport—Osei

According to a Post on Joseph Oppong official facebook account on Sunday, November 1,2026,Ghanaian social commentator Joseph Oppong has questioned the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) over its handling of a reported cocaine shipment intercepted in Beirut, Lebanon, raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding the arrest and the commission’s claims of prior knowledge of the operation.

In a Facebook post, Oppong expressed doubts about the explanation given by Ghanaian authorities, arguing that if the interception was part of a coordinated intelligence operation involving NACOC and Lebanese security agencies, the authorities should have allowed the shipment to reach its intended destination to expose and apprehend the entire network behind the alleged drug trafficking.

He questioned why the arrest was made at the airport in Beirut rather than in Ghana, particularly if there had been effective collaboration between the security agencies of both countries.

Oppong also challenged NACOC’s decision to speak publicly about the incident only after reports had emerged from Lebanon, suggesting that the timing of the commission’s explanation raised further questions about its involvement and level of coordination.

He further drew attention to discrepancies in the quantities reported by the two countries. According to him, Lebanese reports put the intercepted substance at 46.7 kilogrammes, while Ghanaian authorities reportedly referred to 40 kilogrammes, which he claimed represented the number of slabs rather than the actual weight.

The commentator questioned why Ghanaian authorities had failed to apprehend the alleged local collaborators before the consignment left the country, especially if they had prior intelligence about the shipment.
