Seven students identified as suspected ringleaders in YIKROSEC–Somanya Technical Institute clash

Seven male students have been identified as suspected ringleaders following a violent confrontation involving students of Yilo Krobo Senior High School (YIKROSEC) and Somanya Technical Institute (STI) on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The clash occurred on the YIKROSEC campus in Somanya in the Eastern Region after an earlier misunderstanding between a student of the school and a student of Somanya Technical Institute, according to information gathered about the incident.

Reports indicate that the STI student allegedly mobilised some colleagues and other youths from the town, who subsequently stormed the YIKROSEC campus in what is believed to have been a retaliatory attack.

Security personnel responded to the incident to restore order, but the group reportedly fled upon sighting the police.

In the latest development, seven male students have been identified as suspected ringleaders of the confrontation.

The Headmaster of Somanya Technical Institute has reportedly assured the police that he will present the identified students to the security authorities on Monday, November 2, following an official invitation.

The situation is said to be under control, with security personnel maintaining a presence in the area to prevent further disturbances and ensure public safety.

No casualties had been recorded as of the time of filing the report.

Residents, students and the general public have been urged to remain calm and allow the appropriate authorities to investigate the incident.
