“You Chased Me Out of Government, Now You Want Me Out of Church?”, Gachagua Fires at Ruto.

“You Chased Me Out of Government, Now You Want Me Out of Church?”, Gachagua Fires at Ruto.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched another verbal attack on President William Ruto questioning what he described as continued attempts to push him out of spaces where he exercises his constitutional and personal freedoms.

Gachagua expressed his frustration through pointed remarks directed at the Head of State suggesting that his removal from government was not enough and that there were now efforts to interfere with his participation in church activities.

His comments add another chapter to the increasingly bitter political relationship between the former allies whose fallout culminated in Gachagua’s impeachment in October 2024. Since leaving office, Gachagua has emerged as one of Ruto’s most vocal critics frequently accusing the administration of abandoning its promises and sidelining leaders who supported its formation.

The former deputy president has also continued building his political influence particularly through engagements with grassroots supporters and opposition figures ahead of the 2027 General Election. His latest remarks bring religion into the centre of the political disagreement with Gachagua appearing to challenge any perceived attempts to limit his involvement in church affairs.
