Winnie Odinga Jokingly Introduces Her Partner During Public Appearance, Leaves Guests in Laughter

East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Winnie Odinga has amused guests after jokingly introducing her pet dog as her partner during a public appearance at a family celebration.

The humorous moment happened during the 76th birthday celebration of her mother, Ida Odinga, at the Odinga family’s residence in Karen.

The event brought together family members and close friends who had gathered to celebrate Ida’s birthday. It was also a special occasion for the family as they marked her first birthday since the death of her husband, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, in October 2025.

During the celebration, Winnie took to the podium to deliver a heartfelt tribute to her mother, praising her for remaining strong and holding the family together during a difficult period.

However, her speech took an unexpected turn when her white Chihuahua walked onto the podium and settled beside her.

Instead of ignoring the interruption, Winnie decided to introduce the little dog to the guests, leaving those present amused.

“This is my partner here. When everyone was introducing their family, now this is mine,” Winnie jokingly told the gathering.

Her remarks attracted laughter from the audience, with the light-hearted moment adding some humour to an otherwise emotional family occasion.

Winnie’s comment also attracted attention because she has previously spoken openly about her relationship status and the pressure she has faced concerning marriage.

In 2023, she revealed that she was single after being in a relationship for nine years. She also explained that she was not in a hurry to get married or have children simply because of societal expectations.

She previously joked about her mother encouraging her to settle down, saying she had asked Ida to reduce conversations about marriage.

The latest incident has once again highlighted Winnie’s playful personality and ability to connect with people through humour.

Meanwhile, the birthday celebration carried an emotional message as the family continued to remember Raila, whose absence was deeply felt during the special occasion.
