Moroka Swallows Steering Committee Remains Keen to Engage Walter Mokoena Over Club Revival

The Moroka Swallows Steering Committee has reaffirmed its commitment to engaging businessman Walter Mokoena as efforts to revive the historic Soweto football club continue.

Steering Committee chairperson Thulani Mayekiso has responded to suggestions that Mokoena is reluctant to meet with the organisation, insisting that the committee will not abandon its attempts to establish discussions with him.

The development comes amid ongoing efforts to bring Moroka Swallows back to prominence in South African football.

Mokoena has been associated with plans to revive the famous Dube Birds, raising expectations among supporters who hope to see the club return to competitive football.

However, questions have emerged about communication and engagement between the businessman and the steering committee involved in the revival discussions.

Addressing the reports about Mokoena’s alleged reluctance to meet, Mayekiso maintained that the committee remains willing to pursue discussions and work towards establishing a common understanding.

His comments suggest that the steering committee is still interested in finding a way forward through engagement with the businessman.

For Moroka Swallows supporters, the potential revival of the club carries significant emotional importance.

The Dube Birds have a long history in South African football and have built a loyal following through their participation in the country’s domestic competitions.

The club’s identity and heritage remain important to supporters who want to see it reclaim its position in the local football landscape.

As discussions continue, the relationship between the steering committee and Mokoena could remain an important part of efforts to determine the club’s future.

For now, Mayekiso has made it clear that the committee intends to keep pursuing engagement rather than walk away from the revival process.
