BREAKING: Mass Relief for Kaizer Chief as Rolls-Royce Makes Shock Return Ahead of Orlando Pirate War

Kaizer Chiefs Captain Shares Excitement As Rushwin Dortley Returns To Action

Kaizer Chiefs have received a major boost ahead of the Soweto Derby following the return of defender Rushwin Dortley, whose comeback has generated excitement within the club as Amakhosi look to improve their performances in the Betway Premiership.

The talented defender returned to competitive action on 27 October 2026, starting against TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Cup. Chiefs secured an impressive 3-0 victory, with Dortley contributing to a solid defensive display that helped the team keep a clean sheet.

The appearance was particularly significant because it marked his first outing for the club since March 2025. His lengthy absence had deprived the technical team of a defender known for his composure, defensive awareness and ability to distribute the ball from the back.

Speaking about Dortley’s return, the Chiefs captain expressed confidence in the defender’s abilities, emphasising that his quality was never in question despite the injury setback.

“Obviously, we all know what Rushwin has to offer. Before the injury and all of that, we know the level he was at,” the captain said.

The comments reflect the confidence Dortley enjoys among his teammates and underline the importance of having experienced and quality players available as the season progresses.

His return also comes at a crucial time for Chiefs, who are preparing for their highly anticipated Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, 31 October, at FNB Stadium. The encounter offers Amakhosi an opportunity to build on their victory over TS Galaxy and demonstrate their progress against their biggest rivals.

Although Dortley may still need time to regain full match sharpness after such a lengthy absence, his availability provides the technical team with another valuable defensive option.

For Chiefs supporters, his comeback offers renewed optimism. If he continues progressing positively, Dortley could play an important role in strengthening the team’s defence during the demanding fixtures ahead.
