Obinim sets conditions for possible reunion with Florence

Bishop Daniel Obinim has laid down conditions for a possible reunion with his estranged wife, Florence, saying he would only consider returning to their marriage if she cuts ties with people he considers his enemies.

The founder of the International God’s Way Church says he has lost confidence in his wife’s associations and would want her to demonstrate her commitment to the marriage before he considers returning to their matrimonial home.

Speaking about their marital troubles during his church sermon, Obinim insisted that their marriage had not formally collapsed, despite his decision to leave the house.

He explained that, according to documents presented in court, Florence had maintained that she was still in the marriage and living in their matrimonial home. She had also clarified that it is Obinim who has packed his belongings and left.

Despite that position, the preacher made it clear that returning to Florence would not be an automatic decision, as the future of their relationship would depend on whether she was willing to meet his demands.

Obinim said he would want Florence to end her friendships with certain individuals whom he believes are against him. Should she agree to his conditions, he would then ask the judge to require her to sign a bond as part of any arrangement to reconcile.

He warned that if she were to continue associating with people he considers his enemies after agreeing to the terms, he would seek an immediate dissolution of the marriage.

Explaining his position, Obinim said he was concerned that Florence’s relationships with people he considers hostile towards him could undermine his trust in her.

“I am scared of her because if she can pitch camp with my enemy once, then I need to watch my back,” he said.

His comments suggest that while he has not completely ruled out the possibility of reconciliation, rebuilding trust remains a major obstacle.
