I Was Looking Forward to Being Appointed by President Mahama — Nigel Gaisie
The founder and leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has disclosed that he was hoping to receive an appointment from President John Dramani Mahama after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) returned to power.
The Ghanaian preacher revealed that he had anticipated being considered for a position on the Council of State or an appointment as Minister for Religious Affairs, following what he described as his tireless efforts to support the NDC’s campaign and victory.
According to Nigel Gaisie, his expectations were centred on the possibility of being recognised and given a role in the new administration, particularly one that would allow him to contribute to matters involving religion and national development.
Speaking about the appointment he had hoped to receive, the prophet stated, “I was looking forward to be appointed by President Mahama as a Council of State member or Minister for Religious Affairs.”
His statement suggests that he had expected his involvement and support for the NDC during the political process to be followed by an opportunity to serve in government.
The Council of State is an important constitutional body in Ghana that advises the President on national matters and other issues requiring consultation, while ministerial appointments involve individuals being assigned responsibilities to oversee specific sectors of government.
A proposed Ministry for Religious Affairs would be expected to focus on issues concerning religious institutions, faith-based organisations and the relationship between government and religious groups, although Nigel Gaisie did not provide further details about the specific responsibilities he envisioned for such a position.
The prophet has been among religious figures whose political comments and public statements have attracted interest, particularly during election periods when some pastors openly express their views about political parties and national leadership.
His latest revelation has also brought his personal expectations following the NDC’s return to government into focus, as he openly acknowledged that he had anticipated receiving a formal role under Mahama’s administration.
Nigel Gaisie’s disclosure provides an insight into the kind of public office he had hoped to occupy and the recognition he expected after supporting the party’s political journey, with his preferred positions being either membership of the Council of State or a ministerial appointment relating to religious affairs.
