“Leave My Integrity Alone” – Axed MK Leader Breaks Down in Tears

Former uMkhonto weSizwe Party secretary-general Sibonelo Nomvalo has spoken out after being removed from his position and his seat in Parliament.

In an emotional media briefing in Durban on Friday, Nomvalo fought back tears as he defended himself against the party’s decision. He told journalists that people can take his job and his membership, but they must not destroy his good name with lies.

“You can take away my position in the party and my seat in Parliament, but please leave my integrity alone,” he said.

Nomvalo was fired by party president Jacob Zuma on 22 October. The party listed problems with councillor lists, internal fights, delays in campaign materials and questions about his pay as reasons for the move.

But Nomvalo claims a group inside the party used fake intelligence reports and even AI-generated pictures to turn Zuma against him. He said the false stories accused him of working with President Cyril Ramaphosa and others to weaken the MK Party.

The former secretary-general said the attacks have hurt his family badly. His wife spent time in hospital with severe depression because of the pressure.

Nomvalo insisted he is not fighting to get his job back. He said he only wanted to clear his name and protect his reputation. He also announced plans to start a community foundation to help people.

The MK Party has not yet responded to his latest claims. Nomvalo’s public statement has added more heat to the already tense leadership battles inside the party just days before the local government elections.
