SASSA Brings Forward November Grant Payments Ahead Of Elections

Millions of South Africans who rely on social grants will receive their November payments earlier than usual following changes announced by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA).

According to SASSA, the revised payment schedule was approved to ensure smooth grant distribution ahead of the upcoming local government elections scheduled for 4 November 2026.

The agency said the changes were introduced after consultations with stakeholders and approval from National Treasury. Officials stressed that the adjustments are intended to minimise disruptions and ensure beneficiaries receive their grants safely and efficiently.

Under the revised payment schedule, older persons’ grants will be paid first, followed by disability grants and children’s grants.

The updated payment dates are as follows:

SASSA has encouraged beneficiaries to avoid unnecessary visits to agency offices and instead rely on official communication channels for accurate information.

Officials also warned grant recipients to remain alert to misinformation and scams that frequently circulate online around payment periods.

Social grant payments play a critical role in supporting millions of South Africans, particularly pensioners, vulnerable children, and people living with disabilities.

The agency reiterated its commitment to ensuring payments are made reliably and securely throughout the election period.
