Meet George Ruto: President William Ruto’s Youngest Son Making His Mark in Kenya’s Matatu Business

George Kimutai Ruto, the youngest son of President William Ruto, is steadily attracting attention for his growing interests in business, particularly in Kenya’s transport sector.

Unlike some members of prominent political families who gravitate towards public office, George has largely focused on entrepreneurship, education and sports, building an identity beyond his father’s political position.

George attended Mang’u High School before proceeding to Strathmore University, where he graduated with a degree in Actuarial Science. He is also pursuing aviation studies and is reportedly a licensed pilot following training in the United Kingdom.

His biggest business interest, however, has been in the transport industry, where he has invested in the matatu and bus business. He is associated with a fleet of luxury matatus that have become popular for their distinctive designs, entertainment features and modern interiors.

Among the vehicles associated with him are Money Fest and Mood, which have attracted attention because of their high-end features, including custom-made bucket seats, air-conditioned interiors and solar-powered systems.

Beyond business, George has also demonstrated an interest in philanthropy. He is associated with Lisha Mkenya, an initiative established under Strathmore University’s Community Service Centre to support vulnerable communities through food assistance, particularly in drought-affected parts of Northern Kenya.

His interests also extend to football, where he is reportedly pursuing a Master’s degree in Sports Management. He has supported Jamhuri Sports Academy and participated in organising football tournaments in Nairobi, signalling ambitions beyond the transport industry.

On the personal front, George is known for maintaining a relatively private lifestyle, keeping much of his personal affairs away from public attention. He has also been linked to Sharon Ngeno, although details of their relationship remain largely private.

At a young age, George Ruto is exploring opportunities in transport, aviation, philanthropy and sports. His growing business interests have placed him among the young Kenyans attracting public attention for their entrepreneurial ambitions.
