Kalonzo Finally Breaks Silence in Juja After Heckling at Sifuna’s Launch

Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has addressed the recent disruption at the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement secretariat, using a rally in Juja, Kiambu County, to reaffirm his commitment to working with other opposition leaders.

Kalonzo spoke during a political rally attended by Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua and other opposition figures. His appearance came after he was heckled by sections of the crowd during the Linda Mwananchi Movement secretariat launch.

Addressing residents in Juja, Kalonzo said consultations between his team and leaders associated with the movement were ongoing. He named Edwin Sifuna, Eugene Wamalwa and Gachagua among those involved in discussions aimed at building a united opposition front ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He said the leaders had agreed to work together, arguing that unity would be essential in challenging the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“Today, as we sat down and met with our colleagues from the Linda Mwananchi Movement, we agreed that our unity is non-negotiable. Whether it is Riggy G, myself, Wamalwa or Sifuna, we are forming one united team to liberate Kenya,” Kalonzo told the crowd.

The Wiper leader also drew comparisons with previous political alliances, recalling how opposition leaders joined forces during earlier elections to challenge the government of the day.

He referred to his past political engagements with former President Mwai Kibaki and the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, saying coalition building had previously helped opposition leaders secure power.

“When we travelled this region previously with Mwai Kibaki and later joined hands with Raila Odinga, we formed a government and sent Moi home. Today, as we gather here in Juja, let it be known that the time remaining is short. Are you ready to send Ruto home?” he asked.

Gachagua also addressed the rally, highlighting the need for cooperation among opposition leaders as they prepare for the next election.

The event attracted local aspirants and grassroots supporters, with speakers raising issues including the cost of living, access to healthcare and infrastructure development.
