Eric Omondi leads search for baby seen being violently abused in viral live video
Comedian and philanthropist Eric Omondi has launched a public appeal to help trace a baby who was subjected to horrific physical abuse by a woman in a viral video circulating on social media.
Omondi urged Kenyans to help identify and locate the child, raising concerns about the baby’s safety following the disturbing footage that has sparked outrage online.
In a social media post on Friday, October 30, 2026, the comedian called on his followers to assist in tracing the baby.
“Hey guys Please help me find this baby Today🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏” Eric Omondi wrote.
The appeal followed the circulation of a video showing a woman violently handling and repeatedly assaulting a baby while speaking about the child’s upbringing.
In the footage, the woman claimed that the baby’s biological mother had abandoned the child when they were young, leaving her to take care of them.
“Nawaambia huyu mama ake alimuacha akiwa mdogo aliachia mzee mtoto. Sahi mimi ndo nachunga, unaona venye ananiangalia? Ananiangalia tu kama shetani,” she said before slapping the baby.
The woman then instructed the child to bring her a cup, saying she wanted to give them tea while appearing to mock the baby’s inability to follow her instructions.
“Leta kikombe [tells the baby] wacha nimeletee chai muone venye anafanya. Jamani mimi kulea Watoto hio ndo inanishindanga,” she continued.
The situation became increasingly disturbing as the woman proceeded to force the baby to handle and drink the tea while violently shaking the child.
“Shika, shika chai [tells the baby as she violently shakes it] Kunywa haraka, kunywa hii chai,” she said in an angry voice.
She subsequently poked the baby’s head with her finger before threatening further violence.
“Ntakusamba,” the woman said as she repeatedly slapped the child on the head.
The baby could be heard crying as the woman continued assaulting them, with the disturbing footage capturing several instances of physical violence.
The video has raised serious concerns about the child’s welfare, with Omondi’s intervention seeking to mobilise members of the public to help establish the baby’s whereabouts.
His appeal comes amid growing calls for action against child abuse and for the protection of vulnerable children from violence and neglect.
Kenyans who may have information that could help identify the child or establish the circumstances surrounding the incident are being urged to assist in tracing the baby.
