Bad News: SASSA November Payment Dates Change, Check When You’ll Get Paid Or You Will Miss It
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has revised the November 2026 social grant payment schedule to accommodate the upcoming local government elections. According to the latest announcement, payments will begin on 30 October 2026, with different grant categories paid on separate days.
Older Persons Grant beneficiaries should receive payments on Friday, 30 October. Disability Grant payments are scheduled for Monday, 2 November, while children’s grants are scheduled for Tuesday, 3 November. Thursday, 5 November, is reserved for beneficiaries whose grants are under review, subject to eligibility checks.
SASSA says the revised timetable is a once-off arrangement linked to local government elections scheduled for 4 November. National Treasury approved the change after consultations aimed at reducing disruption during the election period. It does not permanently change the normal payment schedule. Dates from December 2026 to March 2027 remain unchanged. Read the SAnews announcement and check the Department of Social Development for government updates.
Beneficiaries do not need to withdraw money on payment day. Funds paid into a bank account can generally remain there until needed. Those collecting through a retailer should confirm their card or account is active and follow their payment provider’s instructions.
People whose grants are under review should read SASSA messages, respond to requests and attend appointments when instructed. Ignoring a review notice or failing to provide documents could affect payment. If a grant has not arrived after the relevant date, check its status and contact SASSA through official channels or visit a local office.
SRD R370 payments follow a separate process and do not share the three-day schedule for older persons, disability and children’s grants. Applicants should check the official SRD website for approval and payment updates.
Rely on official announcements rather than social media rumours. Never share identity numbers, banking details or one-time passwords with anyone claiming to speed up a payment. Keep contact details updated so important notices are not missed.
For help, beneficiaries can call SASSA’s toll-free line on 0800 60 10 11 and confirm details online before travelling or making financial plans for collection.
