The MCA went on to say that if he were in the president's position, opposition leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, would already be behind bars.

Chapurukha also compared Kenya with its neighbours, noting that in Uganda and Tanzania, opposition leaders are in prison facing treason charges, while their Kenyan counterparts continue to engage freely in politics.

According to him, the head of state is busy working for Kenyans, while the opposition travels across the country spreading falsehoods about his administration.

Despite his sharp remarks, the MCA also used the platform to highlight what he termed the government's achievements.

He said that in Nzoia Ward alone, the national government had constructed affordable houses, while the Matunda-Brigadier road was under construction to bitumen standards. He also praised the president for maintaining good relations with other countries, saying Kenyans were benefiting from these ties.

Chapurukha further claimed that investors were streaming into the country because of Ruto's leadership, but alleged that the opposition was busy discouraging them.

In a related development, President William Ruto has been engaged in a public feud with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya over development projects in the county.

Ruto has accused Natembeya of obstructing national government projects, while the governor has accused the president of taking credit for projects funded by the county government.

The dispute has centred on projects including the Masinde Muliro Market in Kitale and plans to upgrade healthcare facilities in the county.
