Fubara Breaks Silence, Tells Supporters To Stop Calling Him Leader After Reconciling With Wike

According to a report by The Punch on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has urged his loyalists to stop addressing him as their leader, declaring that he has officially submitted to the political leadership of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking on Tuesday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt during the unveiling of the Rainbow Coalition candidates for the 2027 general elections, Fubara admitted that those who stood by him through the state’s fierce political crisis still regard him as their principal.

However, he insisted that their rift is completely over, noting that he has returned to his original political family under the Federal Capital Territory Minister.

“We are now in one house,” Fubara stated, publicly referring to Wike as his “oga” and describing him as the general overseer of the coalition. He pledged total commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the success of all coalition candidates in 2027.

The reconciliation follows years of a bitter fallout that began in October 2023, just months into Fubara’s tenure, which triggered impeachment plots, legislative splits, and a brief state of emergency declared by President Tinubu.

Addressing the gathering, Wike stated that the Rainbow Coalition aims to unite diverse political actors behind Tinubu’s administration rather than stoking fresh crises.

The minister also took swipes at political opponents, including former governor Rotimi Amaechi and Atiku Abubakar, while directing Peoples Democratic Party members nationwide to back Tinubu in 2027.

Meanwhile, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma distanced his state from the coalition, maintaining that the All Progressives Congress remains the sole platform for Rivers and national victories in the upcoming polls.
