Moment Abuja Traders Rejected Installation Of Tinubu, APC Banner at Banex Market Plaza

According to a report by the official Facebook page of Daily Times Nigeria on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, traders at Banex Plaza in Abuja reportedly resisted efforts to install a campaign banner bearing the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the logo of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The reported incident has attracted attention online, with Nigerians sharing different opinions about the traders’ reaction and the presence of political materials at the busy shopping complex.

A video circulating on social media showed the banner spread across the courtyard of Banex Plaza, while several traders gathered around it.

The footage appeared to capture the moment vendors opposed the installation and disrupted the process.

According to the report, the traders cited business concerns as part of their reason for rejecting the banner.

However, the identities of the individuals responsible for installing it, as well as whether they had obtained prior approval from the plaza’s management, remain unclear.

The development has since generated debate among social media users.

While some Nigerians supported the traders’ decision, others argued that the incident should be viewed within the context of political campaigning and the management of commercial spaces.

Banex Plaza is one of Abuja’s popular shopping destinations and attracts traders, business owners and customers daily.

Any disagreement involving political displays at the complex is therefore likely to draw public interest.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the APC, the Presidency nor Banex Plaza management had issued an official statement on the reported incident.

The video remains the primary basis for the claims circulating online, and further details are expected to emerge.
