A Lagos court has remanded Nollywood actress Doris Ogala at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre over her ongoing legal dispute with Chris Okafor, the founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry
Comedian Aderombi “DeeOne” Martins disclosed this in an Instagram video on Wednesday, saying the court remanded the actress after she appeared in response to a bench warrant.
Ms Ogala is the African Action Congress (AAC) gubernatorial candidate for Abia State in the forthcoming election.
PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported that the dispute between Ms Ogala and Mr Okafor began in December 2025, when the actress accused the cleric of ruining her life after a video of his engagement to another woman circulated online.
Ms Ogala claimed she had been in a relationship with Mr Okafor since 2017. Authorities later arrested and detained her for two days over allegations that she shared the pastor’s private photographs.
The legal battle has since continued at the Lagos State High Court. Proceedings have been delayed, and the court issued an interim order restraining Ms Ogala and others from discussing Mr Okafor, his church, or his ministry publicly or online, among other restrictions.
In a video posted on her Instagram page, DeeOne confirmed that the actress will remain in custody until her bail hearing.
He said: “Doris Ogala has just been remanded in Ikoyi prison till she can get a date for her bail hearing. Doris Ogala got a bench warrant to appear in court today, and she did; people even supported her, saying they should release her peacefully. They were protesting and all of that.
“As I speak right now, some of those allegations she doesn’t have tangible proof of. Nothing concrete right now. So, until she gets a date for a bail hearing, she will be in Ikoyi prison. So we’re going to keep you guys posted.”
Furthermore, DeeOne claimed that Mr Okafor was involved in the case that led to Ms Ogala’s remand.
He also alleged that Ms Ogala had disagreements with other prominent figures, including the senior pastor and general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Johnson Suleman, and Jerry Eze, the founder and lead pastor of Streams of Joy International and convener of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declaration (NSPPD).
However, DeeOne said he could not confirm whether Mr Suleman or Mr Eze was involved in her current remand.
“The case is between herself and Pastor Chris Okafor. She has said things about other men of God and other prominent people, including Pastor Johnson Suleiman and Pastor Jerry Eze.
“But this particular case is between herself and Pastor Chris Okafor. If those people are going to press charges, we do not know, but right now we’re giving you concrete information that Doris Ogala has just been remanded in Ikoyi prison pending the time she can get a date for a bail hearing.”
However, Ms Ogala accused Mr Suleman, Mr Eze and Mr Okafor of being responsible for her remand in a statement posted on her Instagram page.
“Jerry Eze, Chris Okafor and Suleman Johnson are responsible for my remand,” she wrote.
Ms Ogala also accused Mr Okafor of colluding with the judge and others to secure her remand in prison.
In a video obtained by this newspaper before prison officials took her into custody, the actress insisted that the court should serve as a refuge for the commoner.
“I want to say something: a court is a commoner’s place to talk, and my boyfriend wants to weaponise the law against me, and you said I shouldn’t talk.
“What he intends to achieve is to remand me in prison, and he has got to do it now. That is what he intends to achieve. That prison, I’ll go.”
As of press time, Mr Eze, Mr Suleman, and Mr Okafor had not yet responded to the allegations.
