President William Ruto is set to deliver a recorded announcement at 6pm on Wednesday, October 28, as a State House teaser showing a modern stadium and football pitch draws public attention.

State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam said the address would be streamed on the President’s official YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok accounts. A media alert invited members of the public and the press to follow the broadcast.

The teaser, shared on Ruto’s account hours before the scheduled address, features the stadium’s red and green seating, illuminated areas and football pitch. It shows a person in formal clothing walking through the venue and tapping a ball before displaying a card announcing a “major announcement” for 6pm.

State House has not revealed what the President will announce. It has also not said whether the address is connected to the stadium shown in the video. The imagery has prompted speculation online, but the subject of the announcement remains unconfirmed.

The stadium in the teaser is identified in media reports as Talanta Stadium. The project is part of Talanta Sports City in Nairobi and is planned as a 60,000-seat facility. Government statements have linked the stadium to Kenya’s preparations to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with Uganda and Tanzania.

Ruto is in Russia to attend the third Russia-Africa summit, according to The Standard. State House has not indicated whether the address is connected to his visit or to any issue being discussed at the summit.
