“I Can’t Allow Sifuna to Abuse the President” Ruto Told to Arrest Linda Mwananchi Leader

President William Ruto has been advised to take tough action against opposition leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna over his criticism of the government.

Collins Chapurukha, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Nzoia Ward in Likuyani, Kakamega County, claimed that opposition leaders had been given too much freedom and should face arrest over their political activities.

Speaking on Tuesday, October 27, Chapurukha argued that the opposition was undermining the president’s efforts by allegedly spreading misleading information about his administration.

The MCA specifically mentioned Sifuna, who has emerged as one of the vocal critics of the government and a prominent figure associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement.

According to Chapurukha, he would not tolerate the kind of criticism directed at the president if he occupied the country’s highest office.

“If I were the president, all opposition leaders would be in jail as I speak. I can’t allow someone like Sifuna to abuse me,” he stated.

Chapurukha further compared Kenya’s political environment with those of neighbouring Uganda and Tanzania, arguing that opposition figures in those countries face harsher treatment than their Kenyan counterparts.

He maintained that Ruto was focused on delivering development projects, accusing opposition politicians of moving around the country to discredit the government’s work.

He praised Ruto’s international relations, claiming that the president’s leadership had helped attract investors to Kenya.

However, Chapurukha alleged that opposition leaders were discouraging potential investors through their criticism of the government.

“I urge President Ruto to arrest anyone who has a negative thought,” he said.

His remarks come amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Sifuna and other opposition figures continuing to challenge the government’s policies.
