Ablakwa will have his day in court in 2029 under Bawumia – Kwadwo Poku
Kwadwo Poku, Executive Director of INSTEPR and member of the NPP Communications Team, has predicted that Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa will face court proceedings in January 2029 when Dr Mahamudu Bawumia becomes president.
Speaking about the controversy surrounding Ghana’s evacuation exercise in South Africa, Mr Poku said the minister should take responsibility for any problems within his ministry instead of attempting to exonerate himself.
“In any advanced jurisdiction under democracy or under the military regime, anything that happens within your ministry, you are responsible. If you don’t want to be responsible, don’t go and join,” he said on Joy News.
Mr Poku cited former President Jerry John Rawlings’ leadership principle that a leader must accept responsibility for the actions of his team.
He criticised the ministry for not admitting any wrongdoing in the evacuation exercise, arguing that the issue could be overshadowed by other developments but would not disappear.
“We can whitewash this. We can let this thing go on for another three weeks, four weeks, five weeks. Like the same Ghana that we have, something new will come up right now,” he said.
“But what doesn’t go away? That error, that corruption, that problem sits there. And in January 2029, when Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is president of this country, Honourable Ablakwa will have his day in court. Simple,” he added.
