Ndindi Nyoro Finally Addresses Claims He Is Working for Ruto
Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has launched a spirited defence of his political position, dismissing claims that he is secretly working with President William Ruto to weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Nyoro, who spoke in Kiharu on Tuesday, October 27, accused his political critics of relying on propaganda and personal attacks instead of addressing the bigger challenges facing the country.
The People’s Party of Kenya leader said attempts to portray him as a government operative would not derail his political ambitions or silence him.
“My brothers and sisters, these things you are bringing up are not helping anyone,” Nyoro said, warning that efforts to intimidate him through political attacks would only make him more determined.
His remarks come amid growing disagreements within opposition circles, with leaders increasingly divided over party loyalties, leadership and the best strategy for mounting a formidable challenge against Ruto in 2027.
The latest controversy follows accusations by Democracy for Citizens Party Secretary General John Methu, who has argued that Nyoro’s involvement in opposition politics could contribute to divisions among leaders.
Methu has questioned Nyoro’s political intentions, particularly following his emergence as a leading figure in the People’s Party of Kenya.
Nyoro, however, has consistently rejected the accusations.
He has maintained that his political activities should not automatically be interpreted as an attempt to serve the interests of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The Kiharu MP has also criticised opposition politicians for publicly attacking fellow members of the opposition, arguing that such infighting could undermine efforts to build a united political force ahead of the 2027 polls.
“When you see someone in the opposition attacking another person who is also in the opposition, that person does not understand where Kenya stands,” he said.
The dispute highlights the increasingly complex political calculations within Kenya’s opposition camp as parties position themselves for the next presidential contest.
Nyoro has sought to present himself as an independent political actor capable of charting his own path, while his critics remain suspicious of his past association with Ruto and the potential impact of his growing political influence.
With the 2027 elections drawing closer, the battle over Nyoro’s political identity is unlikely to disappear soon. For now, the lawmaker insists that propaganda and accusations will not force him out of the political arena.
Instead, he says, the attacks will only push him to move faster.
