VIDEO: El-Rufai Kisses Wife in Court as Judge Delivers Major Ruling in Wiretapping Trial

According to a report by DAILY POST on Monday 26 October 2026, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, kissed his wife before entering the courtroom of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, as his trial over the alleged interception of telephone communications belonging to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, continued.

The moment, captured in a video that has circulated on social media, showed El-Rufai embracing and kissing his wife at the court premises before proceeding into the courtroom.

The scene attracted attention from lawyers and supporters present at the court, even as the former governor faced a significant development in his ongoing legal battle.

During Monday’s proceedings, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik dismissed El-Rufai’s no-case submission, ruling that the evidence presented by the Department of State Services was sufficient to require him to enter his defence.

The judge subsequently directed the former governor, who is the sole defendant in the case, to respond to the allegations against him.

El-Rufai is standing trial over allegations that he unlawfully intercepted telephone communications belonging to Ribadu, who serves as Nigeria’s National Security Adviser.

Following the ruling, the court adjourned the case until November 25, 2026, when the former governor is expected to open his defence.

The dismissal of the no-case submission means El-Rufai must now respond to the prosecution’s evidence as the proceedings move to the next stage.

The case remains ongoing, and the allegations against the former governor have yet to be determined by the court.
