Ghanaians React As Prophet Badu Kobi Reveals That God Endorsed Galamsey In The Bible
According to a report by The BBC Ghana today being Monday, October 26, 2026, Prophet Badu Kobi, the founder of Glorious Wave Ministry International, has backed Sammy Gyamfi over his comments on roadside galamsey, bringing renewed attention to the debate surrounding illegal mining and the economic activities of people who depend on it for their livelihoods.
Speaking during a church service, Prophet Badu Kobi argued that God does not hate galamsey, maintaining that people who engage in work to earn money and provide for their families should not automatically be condemned for seeking a source of income.
The preacher supported his argument with a reference to 2 Thessalonians 3:10, which emphasises the importance of working to meet one’s needs.
“If anyone isn’t willing to work, he should not eat,” the biblical passage states.
Through the scripture, Prophet Badu Kobi highlighted the importance of hard work and personal responsibility, suggesting that the need to earn a living should be considered when discussing activities that provide income for individuals and their families.
His comments in support of Sammy Gyamfi have added another perspective to the ongoing national conversation about galamsey, which remains a major subject of public debate in Ghana.
Illegal mining has attracted widespread concern because of its potential effects on the environment, including the pollution of rivers and other water bodies, the destruction of forest reserves and the degradation of agricultural lands.
These environmental challenges have led to calls for stronger measures to control illegal mining and protect natural resources. At the same time, discussions about galamsey frequently involve the economic circumstances of people who depend on mining-related activities to support themselves.
Prophet Badu Kobi’s remarks have therefore brought the issue of employment and economic survival into focus, particularly in discussions about how authorities should approach the problem.
However, his interpretation of the biblical passage does not establish that all forms of galamsey are lawful or environmentally acceptable. The legality of mining activities depends on compliance with relevant laws, permits and environmental requirements.
