Ruth Kadiri Has Advised Married People To Keep Their Wedding Guests To Only 30 People
According to a report by The BBC Ghana today being Monday, October 26, 2026, Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has advised couples preparing for marriage to keep their wedding ceremonies small, recommending that they invite no more than 30 guests to celebrate their special day.
The filmmaker shared her views on wedding celebrations in a post on Instagram, where she encouraged couples to consider simple ceremonies rather than inviting large crowds.
Her advice has attracted attention and sparked conversations about marriage, family life, spirituality, and the number of people who should attend wedding ceremonies.
According to Ruth Kadiri, inviting too many people to a wedding could expose couples to individuals whose intentions may not be genuine. She claimed that some married people have struggled with childbearing after inviting numerous guests, including people she described as witches, to their wedding celebrations. However, this assertion reflects her personal belief and has not been scientifically established.
Kadiri suggested that couples could make their weddings meaningful without organising elaborate ceremonies or inviting hundreds of people.
βYou want to do a wedding, carry yourself, invite 30 people, go to court, and from court, come back home. Call a pastor, let him pray, drink wine, and sleep,β she stated.
Her comments suggest that she believes couples should prioritise their marriage and personal happiness instead of concentrating on the size of their wedding celebrations.
In Nigeria, weddings are often major social occasions that bring together relatives, friends, colleagues, and members of the community. Many families consider inviting a large number of guests an important way to celebrate the union of two people.
However, Kadiriβs recommendation has encouraged discussions about the possible benefits of keeping wedding ceremonies private and intimate.
While some couples may appreciate the simplicity and privacy associated with smaller celebrations, others may prefer traditional gatherings involving their extended families and wider social circles.
Her remarks have therefore added another perspective to ongoing conversations about wedding planning, personal beliefs, and the choices couples make when preparing to begin married life.
