Ghanaian Actor Mr. Beautiful Finally Gets An Appointment From Mahama

Ghanaian actor Clement Bonney, popularly known as Mr. Beautiful, has been appointed to the governing board of the country’s Creative Arts Agency, marking a new development in his career after years of publicly supporting former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Beautiful was introduced alongside 12 other board members at an official ceremony. Photographs from the event showed the actor taking the oath of office and signing his appointment documents in the presence of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie.

Other personalities appointed to the board include renowned actress Akorfa Edjeani Asiedu and former journalist and opera singer Kokui Selormey.

The Creative Arts Agency was established under the Creative Arts Industry Act, 2020 (Act 1048), to support the development, organisation and management of Ghana’s creative arts and entertainment sector.

Its responsibilities include developing and implementing policies aimed at promoting the interests of actors, musicians, visual artists and other professionals working within the industry. The agency is also expected to contribute to creating an environment where creative practitioners can develop their talents and sustain their careers.

Mr. Beautiful’s appointment has attracted attention partly because of his longstanding political affiliations. The actor has consistently expressed support for Mahama and the NDC, a position that reportedly affected his professional relationships and popularity among some sections of the movie-going public.

According to reports, some Kumawood audiences, particularly in areas considered strongholds of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stopped watching his productions because of his political stance. His reduced appeal among certain viewers allegedly contributed to producers excluding him from some film projects, affecting his career.

The challenges reportedly became significant enough for him to withdraw from social media for a period.

His appointment to the Creative Arts Agency board is therefore being viewed as an important development in his public life, giving him an opportunity to contribute to policy discussions and initiatives affecting Ghana’s entertainment industry.

Supporters hope he will use his experience as an actor to draw attention to the difficulties facing creative professionals and help promote sustainable growth across the sector. His performance on the board will be assessed alongside the contributions of other members as they work towards advancing Ghana’s creative arts industry.
