He Fell From the 14th Floor and Survived: Now His Family Faces a New Battle

The family of a 23-year-old man who survived the Eastleigh building collapse in Nairobi is appealing for financial assistance and justice as he continues receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Julius Mwanzia was injured after reportedly falling from the 14th floor of the building that collapsed in Eastleigh. He sustained a broken leg and is currently receiving medical care.

His family says the accident has left them struggling to meet his medical expenses and is calling on the Nairobi County Government to step in and help.

According to the family, the hospital bill has already reached KSh45,000, creating a financial burden they are finding difficult to manage.

They want the county government to take responsibility where appropriate and support Mwanzia’s recovery as investigations into the building collapse continue.

The family says their immediate concern is ensuring that Mwanzia receives the treatment he needs to recover from his injuries.

A broken leg can require medical attention, pain management and rehabilitation, depending on the severity of the injury. The family fears that financial difficulties could make it harder to meet the costs associated with his recovery.

They are therefore asking well-wishers, public officials and relevant authorities to assist with the hospital expenses.

The family also wants answers about the circumstances that led to the collapse and how Mwanzia ended up falling from such a height and surviving.
