Good News To Kenyans As Pres Ruto Announces Ksh 25000 Pay To The Following People From January

President William Ruto has announced plans to introduce 50,000 paid internship opportunities for young Kenyans starting January 2027, in a move aimed at helping graduates gain work experience and improve their chances of securing employment.

The programme will target young people completing their studies at universities, colleges and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

Successful applicants are expected to receive monthly stipends ranging from KSh 20,000 to KSh 25,000 during their internship period.

Speaking during a church service at AIC Kasina in Mwingi town on Sunday, October 25, Ruto explained that the initiative would provide graduates with an opportunity to enter the workplace gradually while developing practical skills.

The President also revealed plans to expand the programme in the coming years. The government intends to increase the number of beneficiaries from the initial 50,000 to 100,000 and eventually 200,000 within two to three years.

The proposed expansion comes at a time when thousands of young Kenyans struggle to find employment after completing their education.

Many graduates spend years searching for jobs because employers often require practical experience that fresh graduates may not have acquired.

Through the internship programme, the government hopes to bridge the gap between academic training and workplace expectations while giving young people an opportunity to earn an income as they build their careers.

The announcement also comes alongside plans to expand the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme, which supports young people interested in starting businesses.

Ruto indicated that another phase of NYOTA would target at least 200,000 business-oriented youths. However, he did not provide detailed information about the application process or the expected rollout dates.

The internship initiative is expected to attract considerable interest among unemployed graduates seeking opportunities in the formal employment sector.
