Today’s Headlines: You Created Hunger, Poverty — Tinubu; Adeboye’s Granddaughter Weds in US

President Bola Tinubu has blamed past leaders, particularly opposition figures for the hunger and poverty in the country as he promised Nigerians prosperity if re-elected for a second term in 2027.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off at Ranchers Bees Stadium in Kaduna on Saturday, Tinubu said his administration was working to address the economic challenges facing Nigerians.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the presidential election for January 16, 2027.

President Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and other serving APC members of the state and National Assemblies are seeking re-election.

The rally in Kaduna marks the ruling party’s official commencement of its campaign for the 2027 general elections.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, have attended the wedding of their granddaughter, Oluwafunmilayo Adubi, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States.

Oluwafunmilayo married David Joseph at House of Praise Baltimore on October 21, 2026.

The ceremony drew family members, senior RCCG leaders and other guests, with the cleric offering a special prayer and marriage blessing for the newlyweds.

Popular Plateau gospel artiste, Ezra Jinang, has come under serious criticism and vilification on social media after he dropped a new song extolling the virtues of Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, calling her the ‘Maman Talakawa’, which translates to ‘Mother of the Poor.’

Jinang, who is also a pastor, and a Special Assistant on Entertainment to Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, dropped the song on Saturday ahead of the APC convention in Kaduna, but the plethora of dissenting voices made it clear that it did not sit well with a lot of his fans.

Though some believe there is nothing wrong with a gospel artiste singing the praises of politicians, others, however, see everything wrong with it.

Those against the praise singing wondered how the First Lady could be addressed as the ‘Mother of the Poor’ in the face of the untold hardship and poverty Nigerians are going through.

The National Association of Nigerian Students has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, following an inspection of federal road projects in Cross River State and along the Benue-Cross River axis.

The students’ body announced the decision on Saturday after completing an inspection tour to assess the quality and progress of the ongoing projects.

The delegation, led by the President of the NANS Senate, Senator Ibeabuchi Onyia, comprised national officers, zonal leaders, state executives and campus leaders.
