Kano Hisbah Arrests Popular TikToker Amani Ishaq, Two Other Women Over Alleged Immoral Dance Videos

By Emmanuel Kwada The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested popular TikToker Amani Ishaq and two other women over allegations of sharing dance videos on social media that the board considers contrary to Islamic teachings and its moral standards.

The Deputy Commander of the board, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The other women arrested alongside Ishaq were identified as Hauwa Khamis and Sa’adatu Muhammad. According to the statement, the three women were arraigned before Magistrate Court No. 5 on Court Road in Kano, as proceedings over the allegations commenced. The board specifically accused Ishaq of posting dance videos on TikTok that it said were inconsistent with the principles of proper upbringing and the teachings of Islam. Hisbah officials described the videos as offensive to public morality and contrary to the values the board seeks to uphold in Kano State. The arrests have drawn attention to the enforcement of religious and moral regulations governing public conduct in the state, particularly concerning social media content and the activities of popular online personalities. However, the allegations against the women remain subject to the judicial process, and the accusations should not be treated as proof of wrongdoing. The case remains ongoing, with investigations continuing to determine the next steps in the proceedings. The court’s eventual determination will establish the legal outcome of the allegations against the three women. 📰 Get Latest News Updates Join our Telegram group and receive breaking and trending news updates directly on your phone.
