The Assembly Member for Effiakuma West, Edward Senam Azaliko, is at the centre of a growing public uproar after a disturbing video surfaced online allegedly showing him forcing two teenagers to engage in a sexual act as punishment.

Reports available to Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show indicate that the assembly member found the two teenagers: a 13-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, in what he described as a compromising situation.

Instead of alerting their parents or the appropriate authorities, he allegedly decided to discipline them himself.

According to the report, he took the teenagers to an unfinished building and ordered them to have sex as punishment for being in a relationship at what he considered a tender age.

He reportedly pulled out a belt and threatened to beat them if they failed to comply.

The viral footage is said to show the young boy being forced to insert his manhood into the girl while the assembly member and other unidentified individuals looked on.

Some bystanders were also seen recording the incident on their mobile phones.

Amid whipping the boy, he shouted, “You think you are smart, take off your shorts, and do it early before I let you go. You too (referring to the teenage female), take off your dress and open your legs for him.

“Do it, or I will use the belt on you. Do it, and kiss him as well. If she says it has entered, I’ll stop beating you, but if not, you’ll be beaten till the next day.”

The footage has sparked widespread outrage, with many Ghanaians expressing disgust about the emotional and psychological trauma the teenagers may have suffered, as well as the conduct of adults who allegedly stood by and recorded the act.

When contacted, the assembly member admitted the role he played in the incident, the report stated.

He was, however, quick to add that “My actions were to punish them for engaging in a relationship at such tender ages.”

The incident has since been reported to the Ghana Police Service for further action.
