Bright Essilfie-Kumi, National Executive of the New Patriotic Party
Bright Essilfie-Kumi, a National Executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and aspirant for the position of National 1st Vice Chairman, has alleged that a promise made by the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party during the 2018 party elections was broken.
Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV on February 24, 2026, Essilfie-Kumi claimed that he had agreed to step down from his contest for the position of National Youth Organizer to support Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as Nana B, in exchange for a commitment that he would be appointed Deputy National Youth Organizer if Nana B won.
“I stepped down for him and then he did an agreement with me. The agreement was that when he wins, he will let them appoint me as Deputy National Youth Organizer. When he won, he said, go to hell,” Essilfie-Kumi said.
Essilfie-Kumi explained that his decision to step down was motivated by party interests rather than personal gain.
NPP will not be intimidated – Nana B declares
“We just wanted Ashantis to also have representation at the NEC. And for the interest of the party, I stepped down for him,” he added.
The NPP executive also criticized the lack of recognition for party members who work diligently without holding formal positions.
“There are so many of us who work for the party that do not hold positions currently, but the kind of work we do, using volunteer groups and others, is more effective and efficient than even those who claim they have assumed responsibility as a particular position of the party,” he noted.
