TMZ reported that Combs, 56, suffered a "severe" head injury at Fort Dix FCI on Friday during altercation with Christopher "Dudus" Coke, who is a convicted Jamaican drug trafficker. Coke was placed in solitary confinement afterward, the media outlet reported.
TMZ also confirmed "the fight was over Diddy getting all the inmates in trouble."
The outlet reported that Combs was taken to a hospital early Saturday morning and returned to the prison later day.
Combs' spokesman, Juda Engelmayer, said that Combs' health and well-being were his team's concern and that it was working to confirm the circumstances.
The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly confirmed the fight or disclosed how Combs was hurt.
Authorities previously said Coke had led the Jamaica-based Shower Posse since the early 1990s, with members operating in Jamaica, the U.S., and elsewhere. Prosecutors said the group sold marijuana and crack cocaine in New York and sent proceeds back to Coke, while also acquiring illegally trafficked weapons.
Combs had previously been placed in solitary confinement after NBC News reported allegations that he had access to contraband while incarcerated.
Combs is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence after a jury convicted him in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
His projected release date is March 2, 2028.
