Barcelona Defender Expected to Face Real Betis After Minor Injury Vs Galatasaray

According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Barcelona defender Eric Garcia is expected to be available for Saturday’s La Liga encounter against Real Betis despite picking up a minor injury during the 4-1 Champions League victory over Galatasaray.

The Spanish international sustained a knock below his right knee following a challenge with Rafael Leao, but the injury is not considered serious.

Barcelona continued their impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign on Tuesday night, recording their tenth consecutive victory across all competitions.

However, Garcia endured a difficult evening against Leao, who caused problems for the Catalan defence with his pace and attacking movement.

The Portuguese winger, who joined Galatasaray from AC Milan during the summer, repeatedly got past the Barcelona defender and played a part in the Turkish side’s opening goal.

Garcia gradually improved as the match progressed, becoming more effective at dealing with Leao’s attacking threat. Nevertheless, the Barcelona defender finished the encounter with an injury after one of their physical duels.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Garcia suffered a knock that caused swelling just below his right knee during a challenge with the Portuguese international.

Speaking to reporters after the match, the defender made light of the situation while explaining how he sustained the injury. “It is a little gift I am taking home from Turkiye,” Garcia joked. He subsequently clarified that the injury resulted from a challenge involving Leao.

Despite being spotted applying ice to the affected area after the match, Garcia is not expected to miss Barcelona’s upcoming fixture against Real Betis.

The 25-year-old should be available for selection unless manager Hansi Flick decides to rest him ahead of next Tuesday’s crucial Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona will travel to Estadio de La Cartuja on Saturday to face Betis as they look to continue their impressive run in La Liga.

Garcia’s availability would provide Flick with another defensive option, although the Barcelona manager must consider the demanding schedule ahead.

With the PSG encounter approaching, the club could prioritise keeping the versatile defender fit rather than risking him unnecessarily against Betis.
