‘It’s Been Eight Years Now, I Love the Club’ — Giroud Reacts To Arsenal Return Ahead Of UCL Tie

According to a report by TNT SPORTS on Monday, October 12, 2026, former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has expressed his love for the North London club ahead of his return to the Emirates Stadium for the UEFA Champions League encounter against Lille on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Giroud, who spoke in a recent interview with TNT Sports, said he was emotional and excited about returning to the stadium after several years away, describing the occasion as a special moment in his career.

The French striker said his affection for Arsenal remained strong despite the years that had passed since his departure from the club.

“It’s been eight years now, I love the club,” Giroud said, reflecting on his relationship with Arsenal and his return to North London.

The former Gunners forward added that he had not returned to play at the stadium for several years, making Tuesday’s Champions League fixture particularly meaningful to him.

He explained that he had previously had the opportunity to return to the stadium while playing for Chelsea, Arsenal’s London rivals, but noted that the latest visit carried special significance.

Giroud’s return is expected to attract attention from Arsenal supporters who remember his contributions during his time at the club.

The striker played for Arsenal between 2012 and 2018, winning three FA Cup titles before leaving for Chelsea in January 2018.

During his spell at the Emirates Stadium, he became known for his physical presence, aerial ability and technical qualities in attack.

His return for the Champions League meeting with Lille offers an opportunity to revisit memories of his time in English football, particularly his years with the Gunners.

Despite the emotions surrounding the occasion, Giroud is expected to focus on his responsibilities on the pitch as he prepares for the European fixture.
